In the summer of 2022, I worked with the Lancashire Wildlife Trust and Wigan Steam using creativity and connection to nature to engage local people in The Carbon Landscape.

The Carbon Landscape, situated in the wetlands of Wigan, The Mersey Ship Canal and the mosslands in Salford and Warrington, all previously industrial sites, have now been rewilded and returned to their original state – a home for nature and wildlife to thrive.

I created ‘Smitten with Bitterns’, a campaign to fight for the visibility of the Bittern and delivered a program of outdoor arts with families at Wigan & Pennington Flash.

These shy feathered beauties are my absolute favourite (you should hear them boom!). They are endangered and one of the rarest breeding species in the UK but can be spotted at these sites.
