Clean Air for Brunswick / University of Manchester

Working with scientists at the Wellcome Centre for Cell Matrix Research at the University of Manchester, Clean Air Brunswick which was a place-based partnership to tackle issues of air pollution in the neighbourhood of Brunswick in Manchester.

I worked with a games designer, Jana Wendler, data and health scientists and community groups including local school children to creatively identify concerns and ideas for change.

I co-designed banners with community members and school children which were exhibited in the community spaces and the school and a ‘call to action’ zine which went out to hundreds of homes in the neighbourhood.  I also commissioned artist Jack McConnell to visually capture our community consultation event.

The wider work fed into a publication on air quality.

This project has now developed into a grassroots project from which the Ardwick Climate Action Group has been founded.

From April 2023, I will be working with the group, the wider community and researchers to co design digital maps and physical creative wayfinding as part of the regeneration and re wilding of green spaces in the area.
